Band 6 £31,365 - £37,890
This can also be a remote role 

Flame Health are looking for a Band 6 Specialist speech and language therapist Practitioner to provide a highly specialist service to adults with caseloads including: Dementia, respiratory, voice disorders, strokes and long terms neurological conditions 

The post will require working in partnership with patients and the multi-disciplinary team and other agencies.

You will provide communication, dysphagia and voice assessment, therapy and support to adults with acquired difficulties and to their carers.
Your caseload is varied including dementia, respiratory, other long-term neurological conditions, voice disorders and stroke. patients are provided with a service in a variety of settings appropriate to their needs i.e care homes, patients home and outpatient clinics across the West Lancashire area.

Key Responsibilities

This list is intended to summarise the key responsibilities and is not intended to cover every task that may be required of the role: -

• To undertake comprehensive speech and language therapy assessment of patients, including those with complex presentations.
• To clinically diagnose and use clinical reasoning skills to formulate and implement agreed individualised treatment programmes, if appropriate, in a manner, which respects privacy, dignity and individuality.
• To deputise for the Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist and represent the clinical team when required to do so as appropriate.
• To undertake assessment and management of patients with communication and swallowing problems following CVA and swallowing disorders associated with acute medical conditions including tracheostomies and/or ventilator dependency with support from band 7 colleagues.
• To undertake or assist in the undertaking of video fluoroscopic examinations, analysing and reporting radiographic images, offering assessments, diagnosis and treatment/management plans to patients and their medical teams.
• To maintain knowledge and skill in the use of alternative and augmentative communication aids and systems.
• To manage and prioritise referrals as required and to ensure appropriate discharge

Qualifications

• Recognised Speech and Language Occupational Therapy degree qualification or equivalent
• Health Professions Council – Licence to Practice
• Registered member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent
• Dysphagia training
• Additional Postgraduate MSc level training in specialist field
