Flame Health are looking for a Band 6/7 BSW Highly Specialist Autism Practitioner to provide a highly specialist assessment service for children and young people.
The post will require working in partnership with parents/carers, and the multi-disciplinary team and other agencies.
The waiting list initiative is a six-month commissioned project. The autism practitioner will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver autism assessment and contribute to diagnostic decision making during the initiative. The post-holder will have a pivotal contribution to make in supporting the quality of every part of the project.
Key Responsibilities

To triage referrals for children and young people with complex social communication difficulties to ensure they receive appropriate autism assessment

Assessment and differential diagnosis of a child’s communication and social interaction needs through the use of highly specialised standardised assessments, reflection of auditory, visual and kinaesthetic aspects of a child’s communication, informal observation, specialist knowledge and consultation with parents and school staff (To include ADOS and 3di)

Highly developed auditory and perceptual skills

Highly specialist knowledge to inform sound clinical judgements/decision making for case management

Identification of appropriate strategies to facilitate and enhance communicative effectiveness, and to develop and implement highly specialist speech and language therapy care plans based on evidence-based practice and evaluation of outcomes

To manage data collection and reflect on the diagnostic pathway

Line management and clinical supervision within the multidisciplinary tea
Qualifications
-
Recognised Speech and Language Occupational Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent

Health Professions Council – Licence to Practice
-
Registered member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent

Membership of relevant Clinical
-
Excellence Network / Special Interest
You must have a Valid UK Driving License and access to a car in order to carry out duties of the post.
