Senior Commercial Executive - UK

Ophthalmic/Optical Manufacturing

We are working with a technology company who are developing innovative technology solutions for the medical and ophthalmic industries world-wide and they now need a Senior Commercial Executive to join the team to help drive UK and International growth.

Their team consists of some of the leading engineers in the ophthalmic/optical industry and our client has a track record of developing rapid solutions for commercial and research partners.

They are a focused, dynamic, and highly motivated team that is making significant improvements to eye care technology throughout the UK, US, and beyond.

The Role

  • As Senior Commercial Executive you will:

  • Initiate, and continue, market research as necessary to support the development of company strategy and the substantiation of demand for our clients products.

  • Develop a working knowledge of competitor products and commercial terms for such.

  • To hit sales and commercial budgets as agreed from time to time to allow the company to achieve its overall strategies

  • Personally develop sales leads in the UK, and internationally, liaising with technical personnel re product development and delivery feasibility.

  • Work closely in support of the Senior Exec team to constantly feedback on market conditions, opportunities, competitor activity.

  • Explore relevant strategic partnerships on an international basis and discuss such with the senior exec team.

  • Explore and negotiate robust contracts with clients, liaising with product development, production & delivery teams.

  • Prepare client project proposals and initiation documents for C.E.O. approval prior to execution with customers.               

  • Work with regulatory affairs personnel to ensure our clients international sales comply with export regulations and required documentation

  • Personally represent the business at UK and international trade shows and assist the marketing personnel in the planning of such events.

  • Fully manage the customer base with the company’s chosen CRM system ensuring all contacts and communications are fully up to date at all times.

  • Closely manage the ever-increasing pipeline of business to realise the potential that lies within at the earliest opportunity and report regularly on such to the senior exec team as and when required.

  • Liaise with finance department to ensure effective client invoicing and credit control, as well as working on client and project profitability analysis and then taking appropriate actions to maximise profitability.

The Skills and Experience Required
  • Senior level salesperson, selling to senior management, board level and companies owners, and with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.

  • Demonstrable proof of sustained growth and new customer growth

  • Experience of sales with the optical arena preferably within medical devices

  • Some international experience would be a distinct advantage

  • Ability to travel in the UK and Europe is a prerequisite

  • Knowledge of the European ophthalmic lens product customer and/or mid-large sized optical groups would be a distinct advantage

  • First class written and oral communication skills

  • Very comfortable with Microsoft operating platforms and, if possible, a broader but basic knowledge of network connectivity
