We have just been instructed on an exclusive opportunity for a clinical optometrist based in Windsor

Formed over a number of years by a group of professionals dedicated to improving the standards of hospital eye care received by the public, through training and developing a mixed skill workforce, empowered with bespoke technology into a truly integrated care delivery network, this company now provides a mix of ophthalmology transformation and innovation delivery services to an ever-growing number of NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), and other care provider businesses.

Job Description
Running a step down eye casualty / primary assessment service within a hospital setting clinics run 5 days a week handling patients deemed non emergencies (low and medium risk) from eye casualty. Also patients due for follow up visits in primary assessment clinic having been seen originally in eye casualty.
All patients are seen within a robust clinical governance framework. Where necessary we offer consultant telemedicine review.

Duties include:

  • Maintain the quality of clinical delivery via absence of negative reporting;
  • Support the consistency of the clinic rota, to deliver a smooth operational service;
  • Maintenance of FFT feedback results exceeding 95% likely or very likely to recommend the service;
  • Support the lead optometrist by the delivery of clinical contractual KPI’s
  • Support external training programmes in CCG area;
  • Assist with posters and clinical trials
  • Support continuing professional development
Essential Experience & Qualifications
  • GOC Registered optometrist (no previous FTP concerns)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience
  • Clinically minded, knowledgeable and skilled
  • Keen attitude towards the diagnosis and community management of ocular disease
  • Good record keeping skills
  • Ability to follow core-competency clinical protocols
  • Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment
  • Deliver good quality patient service with effective and professional communication
  • IT literate and technologically competent
  • Proactive approach to learning software and policies

Desirable Skills

  • Higher qualification (IP, Glaucoma, MSc)
  • Hospital Experience
  • OCT & Gonioscopy
  • Post Graduate diplomas (egIP/Glaucoma/medical retina) recognised and encouraged

  • Attention to detail and high levels of accuracy in a busy care service
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Ability to prioritise individual workload, tasks and excellent time management
  • A strong understanding of the confidential nature of the work
