Job Description:

Flame Health Optical Sales are recruiting for a Business Development Manager role in the Midlands area. This role represents an exciting opportunity to join a world leading lense business during a period of growth. You would be working with the independent sector in the midlands region and ensuring that our client becomes the preferred supplier to the market.

Your role:

  • To consolidate existing sales and increase profitable sales of independent opticians through both direct and indirect channels, in accordance with the Company sales and marketing strategy to meet turnover targets in accordance with the Company structure.
  • To develop, build and maintain relationships that will develop sales of the Company’s branded product range in line with forecast and ensure that my client becomes the customers preferred supplier.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To maintain a consistent call programme in field for both Direct and Indirect Independent Accounts across the geographical area to increase sales by ensuring that our client becomes the preferred supplier.
  • To sell in full the range of products by negotiation with opticians.
  • To present all relevant marketing/commercial activity to key personnel agreeing actions and processes required to ensure its success.
  • To regularly review with all customers their business, product mix and supplier preferences promoting our client as first choice.
  • To agree and implement customer training, both in practice and in seminar format, on all new and existing products to improve added value sales.
  • To maintain accurate customer records and reports for relevant accounts to ensure that sales data and market activity can be analysed accurately
  • To ensure that our client and competitor product knowledge is continually maintained
  • To continually assess the market, maintaining customer and competitor records to identify opportunities and be able to provide call reports, monthly reports and forward planning sheets as required by Sales Management team.
  • At all times to act as an ambassador of our client and its values.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION STANDARD REQUIRED FOR ROLE

  • Essential
  • A-level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject
  • Desirable
  • Degree (or equivalent) preferably in business studies or a technical subject
  • Professional sales/marketing qualification (CIM Advanced Certificate or equivalent)

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR ROLE

  • D/O qualifications or optical experience
  • Working on own initiative to tight deadlines
  • Ability to communicate at all levels both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively analyse and interpret data
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Selling and negotiating techniques
  • Computer literate

Desirable

  • Experience of successful sales account management in related field
  • Knowledge and experience of pricing systems, marketing theory and its application, selling and negotiating techniques
  • Proven track record of delivering effective training and coaching to change behaviour
  • Previous experience of training in group and individual environments
  • Knowledge of lens manufacturing processes, Company products and a good understanding of the UK optical market
