Flame Health are currently working with a very popular Healthcare company who are looking for a band 6 School Nurse in the Lancashire area.

You will be working to deliver services across the Burnley Lancashire area. To work within the Burnley Lancashire Health Young People and Family Services, working within and across organisational boundaries.  

Responsibilities include:

  • Serving as the public health lead for the school nursing skill mixed team
  • Assessing health needs in the school community and identifying and implementing health programs
  • Delegating and utilizing the skills of the skill mix team for appropriate intervention.
  • To provide school age children/young people and their families with a service that promotes the physical, mental and emotional health of school age children/young people
  • and provides support for families/carers by partnership working in a community setting
  • To understand the concept of Clinical Governance and be skilled in the identification, assessment and protection of vulnerable children and families.
  • To exhibit excellence in the standards for Specialist Community Public Health Nursing/School Nursing practice, and to be an effective teacher and role model for others to aspire to.
  • To develop the school nursing service in the defined locality through proactive leadership and innovative practice to meet health needs.
  • To ensure a child centred service is delivered through active engagement with young people in the planning and delivery of the service in the locality area.

Essential requirements:

  • Registered Nurse (RN).
  • NMC Registration.
  • Specialist Public Health Nursing qualification in School Nursing 
  • Valid UK Driving Licence with access to a car for work purposes
  • Able to work flexibly and respond to changing demands in workload
  • Able to maintain factual, consistent, accurate and comprehensive records
  • Clear understanding of the needs of children and young people
  • Experience of inter-agency and collaborative working
  • A sound understanding of the Department of Health & National Documents in relation to the agenda for Children and Young People’s Services
  • Understand the limits and concepts of confidentiality and principles of the Data Protection and Freedom of Information Acts.
  • Experience of working as part of a team.
