Charity video demonstrates vision impairment from The Thomas Pocklington Trust

Vision impairment demonstration video from The Thomas Pocklington Trust. Working with the RNIB and Glaucoma UK.

The video is about Vision impairment, ‘What do we see? How the world looks to blind and partially sighted people,’. It focuses on the six most common sight conditions in the UK; cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, retinitis pigmentosa, hemianopia, age-related macular degeneration, and glaucoma.

Produced with assistance from the RNIB and Glaucoma UK. The video shows each of the conditions overlaid onto footage of everyday activity, and to varying degrees of severity. Each simulation features a narration that describes the condition, its cause, demographics, impact, and available treatment.

Furthermore, Chief executive for the Thomas Pocklington Trust, Charles Colquhoun, said: “This is the first time a video of this kind has been produced. “Visual impairment varies greatly from person to person. It is sometimes difficult to demonstrate what people with the various conditions experience – until now.”
