UK Prescription Charges

The NPA has called for the abolition of prescription charges in England as the charge has rose to £7.40 per item, warning they add to pharmacists’ workload without helping patients.
The call has come as Scotland abolished prescription charges joining Northern Ireland and Wales.
The head of NPA pharmacy has said, “From a pharmacist’s point of view, processing prescription levies is part of the job that adds workload but no patient benefit. Pharmacists experience great pressures on their time and any release of time could be used to enhance patient care.”
As a pharmacist, how do you feel about prescription charges, do you find it adds to your workload? Please let Flame Health know your thoughts.
