Flame Health Associates are seeking an Operating Department Practitioner in Reading, on behalf of a company that runs hospitals and health services in the UK.

Our client is ultimately looking for an experienced and dynamic ODP, interested in working alongside a highly motivated, patient focused team who believe in providing the most current evidence based surgical practice.

The candidate must be passionate in delivering her/his care and continually looking for opportunities to improve and develop their skills to achieve this. The candidate should be eager to take on new responsibilities that may arise which benefits the patients, department and company.

The candidate must have the skills and experience to work in varied theatre settings and specialties in a multidisciplinary environment.

The patients are offered choice over who provides the service, being able, for example, to choose which hospital they attend.

  • To utilise clinical skills that will enable high standards of care to be delivered in all areas of the department.
  • Ability to recognise areas for change, assist in the innovation, updating and implementation of practice within the Anaesthetic & Theatre speciality that is underpinned by research and proven best practice. Adhere to the company’s policies, procedures and guidelines Management of Care
  • Organise workload to meet the needs of patients’ requirements
  • Maintain a healthy, safe and productive working environment Contribute to improvements at work
  • Recommend improvements within the clinical area to improve peri-operative service
  • Identify opportunities for improvements in clinical practice
  • Work within the Anaesthetic team in proposed changes for benefits and disadvantages
  • Implement identified changes in clinical practice Manage the use of financial resources
  • Make recommendations to Theatre Lead for cost cutting changes when there is an opportunity to do so
  • Enhance your own performance to maintain your registration
  • Continuously develop your own knowledge and skills in relation to evidence based practice.
  • Maintain a clinical workload and technical skills/clinical competence
