Flame Health Optometry - Optometrist Job - West Midlands:

An Associate Optometrist is required at this established chain of independent, optical practices in the West Midlands area. The main duties will include refractions at a testing time of 20 - 30 minutes depending on the patient, contact lens work, hospital referrals, diabetic screening, direct referrals, Low Vision, DVLA, developing the domiciliary side at least once a month.

The person that joins the company will have a certain amount of professional freedom, it is the aim of the proprietor to find the interests of the individual and work towards their strengths, they do not want somebody to be consulting all day, if there is a particular interest then they will assist with this.

A key example is that an Optometrist was interested in Colorimetry - therefore they purchased the equipment for them. They are looking for somebody that has a relaxed personality, a people person, willing to help others, flexible, able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, receptive to learn more. Looking for good all round experience, or somebody with an interest in specialisms.

There is always a fully qualified Dispensing Optician available or a highly experienced Optical Assistant, who does all administration, visual fields and contact tonometry. Equipment wise they have; a Perkins tonometer, projection chart, fundus camera, auto refractor, keratometer, Phoropter head and Trial frames.
