Our client is a provider of the whole spectrum of Ophthalmic health care including diagnosis, treatment and surgery for refractive, cosmetic and general eye conditions on a day care treatment basis.
They are looking for a Laser Optometrist in the Surrey Area. They aim to be the best provider of eye care in the UK working alongside NHS trained Consultants / Surgeons to provide optimal care for their patients.
You must be able to:
- Discuss with patients their suitability for treatment in a professional and ethical manner in line with company policy and requirements of professional registration.
- Support and work along side Consultants / Surgeons in their day to day clinics carrying out the various examinations that are associated with cataract, glaucoma, retinal, refractive and oculoplastic surgery.
- Running acute and follow up clinics post surgery for all patients. Provide health advice and support to patients attending the hospital.
- To provide first line clinical advice to patients and follow the appropriate means of referral to a medical practitioner if necessary. Service Quality and Governance Strive to ensure the hospital has a reputation for being a “Centre of Excellence” in ophthalmic patient care.
- Ensure awareness of the uses, safety precautions and handling of equipment in the surgical department within the clinical competency framework.
- Ensure awareness of CQC policies and updates, attending all mandatory update courses
- Ensure correct storage of all equipment ensuring maintenance records are kept up to date and reporting any problems which may result in delay of surgery.
- Help to control cross infection by enforcing Hospital policy regarding Uniform Policy, the maintenance of a clean working environment, decontamination and sterilisation procedures.
- To follow correct procedures for documenting and reporting any accident or incident.
- To be aware of changing needs and be prepared to instigate change with reference to the Hospital Manager and/or clinical colleagues. Personal Development Accepts responsibility for developing own knowledge and skills.
- Attend all mandatory training courses when arranged and regular meetings and annual appraisals with the Hospital Manager including developing and fulfilling a personal development plan.
- Maintain awareness of current developments in ophthalmic surgery.
- To play an active role in teaching within the hospital and participate in induction programmes for new colleagues.
- To ensure that all CET points are kept up to date and comply with all GOC guidelines and regulations.
- To take an active part in the maintenance of a supportive learning environment within the hospital. Mandatory requirements Competence
