Job Summary

Our client is currently looking to recruit an Account Manager to be field based in Europe. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering the corporate business strategies as well as specific territory and customer plans in order to achieve agreed objectives for the company. They will actively position our client to win a significant proportion of outsourced global projects from assigned customer(s) and territories across all the company’s service capabilities. The Account Manager will take responsibility in proactively hunting out new business opportunities with current clients and in winning business from new clients.

Background

Due to expansion, our client is looking to recruit a field based account manager in Europe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Determine and implement the commercial strategy for assigned customers and territories.
  • Generate sales from assigned customers and territories to achieve team and individual targets and to communicate specific customer needs and opportunities to the proposals group and account support staff.
  • To proactively identify and convert business from customers.
  • Seek and convert business across all lines of business with current clients.
  • Seek out new clients in assigned territory.
  • Increase market penetration measured by an increase in RFP activity, proactive proposal submissions and strike rate.
  • Aggressively pursue awareness of competitive activities, positioning and pricing, which includes specific reasons for awards and non-awards for assigned customers.
  • Serve as primary facilitator and owner in customer presentations/meetings and the development of the appropriate teams for such meetings including bid presentations, facilities audits etc.
  • Ensure compliance with routine use of Salesforce.com and to provide timely completion of administrative responsibilities.
  • Represent the company at trade shows and professional conferences as necessary.
  • Maintain an in depth knowledge of company areas of expertise. Maintain a working knowledge of all services in order to ensure success in cross sell opportunities.
  • To travel as required to undertake the above responsibilities – this will be at minimum 12 days per month (12-18 client meetings per month).

Qualifications and Experience

  • Outstanding written, oral, negotiating, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Establish professional working relationship with internal sales teams (EU and USA) and operational management. Maintain open communication and share customer approach with operations.
  • Strong networking ability and able to be decisive in decision making when facing ambiguity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, or scientific discipline specific to pharmaceutical development.
  • Proven track record in professional sales within a pharmaceutical or CRO environment
  • Demonstrated PC literacy.
