Flame Health Dentistry - Hygienist Job - Oxford:

This fully private, established dental practice based in the centre of Oxford currently have an excellent opportunity for a part time experienced and qualified hygienist to join it’s friendly team.

This 100% private practice has 6 surgeries and is well equipped, fully computerised and very modern throughout. It is a busy, growing practice with an established patient list. The team at this practice currently consists of 3 dentists, 2 hygienists, 3 dental nurses and a practice manager.

They are looking for 2/3 days hygiene work per week, preferably Monday & Thursday with possibility of one other weekday, 9am - 5pm. Appointment times are generally 20, 30 or 40 minutes, with the bulk of these usually 30 mins.

As a Hygienist at this company you will be working to the prescription of a dentist who will prescribe the treatment and, in consultation with you, the length of the appointments, the duration of the treatment plan and the frequency of maintenance recall visits. This position is available 1 day per week + alternative Saturdays on a self employed basis with the successful hygienist receiving 40% of the patient book.

Within this position the successful Hygienist will be required to:

  • Ensure that the clinical areas and all equipment are clean, tidy and sterile as appropriate, in accordance to the practice’s health and safety procedures and manufacturers instructions.
  • Provide advice and treatments in accordance with the 1986 Dental Auxiliaries regulations and the GDC guidance Carry out treatment according to the dentist’s written prescription.
  • Treat patients according to the practice appointment scheduling system.
  • Use all equipment and machinery in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations and ensure that they are maintained regularly and in good working order.
  • Accurately complete patient clinical records as directed.
  • Ensure the welfare of all patients.
  • Be familiar and comply with all Health and Safety rules and guidance, including PPE, COSSH, Mercury handling, infection control and waste control.
  • Ensure that there are adequate stocks of materials and other items within the surgery.
  • Liaise with reception to ensure smooth patient communication and transfer of records.
  • Act at all times in accordance with the practice rules and code of conduct.
  • Undertake other duties as necessary for the efficient operation of the practice (such as the duties and tasks of dental nurse or receptionist in exceptional circumstances).
  • Undergo training that may be required to develop skills and abilities.
  • Attend refresher and update training for medical emergencies and CPR.
  • Act in accordance with the practice rules and code of conduct.
